Description
In this study, hydroxyapatite with high specific surface area was synthesized by precipitation method. Starting solution was prepared by mixing of 0.01M Ca(NO3)2 and 0.006M NaH2PO4 aqueous solutions. Precipitate was obtained by adding of NH3 to the starting solution, and then aged using autoclave and under microwave irradiation. In all cases, only HAP phase was detected by XRD. When precipitate was aged using autoclave for 3h, small acicular particles was observed by SEM and the specific surface area was 74m2/g. Under microwave irradiation for 1h, acicular particles grew a little more compared with conventional heating and some fused particles were observed by SEM.
