Abstract
It was a task to verify the effectiveness of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) as an alternative assessment technique. This paper compared the assessment results of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Weighted Summation and PCA for five case studies. It was suggested that assessment results by three techniques were coincided with suitable setup of alternatives, criteria and scoring as well as PCA was effective in terms of clarity of reasons for selecting the most suitable option, low arbitrariness, verification of analysis results and easiness of a technique compared to other two techniques. Finally the paper indicated the expectation of making better decisions through stakeholder involvement using PCA, which could define sharply merits and demerits of alternatives.
