Description

RIKEN BRC Experimental Plant Division preserves and distributes Arabidopsis seeds, plant cultured cells and plant DNA materials through National BioResource Project (NBRP). We report here a novel protocol for the long-term storage of cDNA materials at 4 or -30 degrees Celsius.<br> In general, DNA materials are preserved in a freezer at -80 degrees Celsius. Back up stock is necessary to avoid total loss of stocks caused by a machine trouble as well as earthquake. However, the cost and space for additional freezer are difficult to procure. We now develop a novel protocol to store cDNA materials at 4 or -30 degrees Celsius under the support from NBRP. We apply the protocol to establish back up stocks for the cDNA resources from Arabidopsis, moss, poplar, cassava, Chinese cabbage, tobacco and T. halophila. Detail of the protocol will be presented.
