Description

A stress-strain relationship for concrete under triaxial compression is prposed for the analysis of confined concrete. The applicability of the existing failure criteria and equations for the stress-strain curve is discussed in comparison with the experimental results obtained from the past triaxial compression tests. It is demonstrated that the ascending and the descending parts of the stress-strain curve of concretes with different compressive strengths under various confining stresses can be represented well by the existing formula using proposed coefficients calculated as functions of the uniaxial compressive strength and strength enhancement ratio.
