One simple structural model is supposed. The structural model consists of a rigid plate and four springs. The horizontal rigid plate (on the x-y plane) is supposed by the four vertical springs (in the z-direction). Each spring has the same restoring force characteristic. It is bi-linear type. Relations among the forces loaded on the rigid plate (M_x, M_y and N_z) and displacements of the rigid plate (φ_x, φ_y and δ_z) can be calculated. Whether (M_x, M_y, N_z)-(φ_x, φ_y, δ_z) relation of the structural model can be macroscopically described by the theory of plasticity or not is examined. In the theory of plasticity, two kinds of kinematic hardening rule are applied. One is Prager's rule and the other is Ziegler's rule. Under some desirable conditions, the nonlinear restoring force characteristics of a structural model can be macros- copically described by Prager's kinematic hardening rule.
