Abstract
To investigate the effect of pore structure on osmotic pressure induced by semi-permeability of cement mortar, various kinds of mortar from 0.45 to 0.75 in water cement ratios and from 0.7 to 3.0 in sand mortar ratios were prepared as test specimens. Measurements of osmotic pressure by the specially designed apparatus composed of distilled water and NaCl solution cells, pore size distribution by a mercury intrusion porosimetry and permeability of water and ions were carried out, and the following results were obtained. (1) Osmotic pressure is closely related to small range of pore size. (2) Generation of osmotic pressure of cement mortar is affected by pore distribution and volume, and also electrochemical property.
