Description

In order to evaluate the segregation properties between coarse aggregate and matrix mortar, a series of experiments are carried out by using a new type of apparatus for flowing process test. On the basis of rheology, expressed by the flowing segregation yield value and the flowing segregation plastic viscosity, the influences of unit water, water-powder ratio, ground granulated blast-furnace slag, coarse aggregate and segregation control agent on the segregation resistance of matrix mortar are discussed. The experimental study reveals that the viscosity of mortar, the flowing segregation yield value and the flowing segregation plastic viscosity decrease with increasing unit water. It is also shown that with increasing the fine aggregate-powder ratio, the relative adhesive toughness and the flowing segregation plastic viscosity decrease, though the flowing segregation yield value increases a little, and that the final flowing value and the mortar flowing value obtained by using a cylinder penetration test are almost dominated by the fine aggregate-powder ratio, though the segregation degree of concrete can't be decided by only the values of final flowing value and flowing value obtained by using the cylinder penetration test.
