Abstract

Ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) plant is a power generation system which utilizes temperature difference between warm seawater at surface and cold seawater in depth. In this research, a dynamic model for warm heat source in an OTEC experimental plant is constructed based on experimental data. The dynamics for temperatures are modelled as the first-order system with time lag. Evaporator heat flow rate and warm source heat exchanger heat flow rate are also estimated by using the constructed dynamic model and taking into account the time lag. The proposed model is evaluated through simulation.
