Description
A coolant flow guided flexible sheet developed by authors was used as an electrode of in-process electrolytic dressing. This flexible sheet made of a thin sheet material is attracted to the wheel surface, and the sheet due to which all the coolant going off the nozzle can be directed exactly to the grinding point. In this research, this electrolytic dressing method using the flexible sheet electrode was applied to various metal bonded wheels, and the effects on the dressing characteristic and the grinding characteristic were investigated. The result showed that the gap between the wheel and the sheet electrode could be maintained at narrow gaps of 80 to 120 micrometer in the case of every grain size. Furthermore, it was found that the electrolysis efficiency improved by widening an opposed area of wheel and sheet.
