Abstract
The megasonic coolant method, in which supersonic vibration with a frequency of megahertz order is superimposed on machining fluid for the purpose of improving machining characteristics, has been applied to a small drilling process. The result is that, comparing with a conventional coolant supplying method, the tool life in terms of tool breakage of very small diameter drills increases by more than five times.
