Description
In the most of conventional CAM system developed for turning with a CNC lathe, by specifying the desired shape and size of products, and tool and workpiece materials, the NC data such as tool path, feed and rotational speed of the spindle are generated automatically. However, for turning the workpiece of large length and small diameter, variation of finished diameter along the rotational axis is occurred by workpiece deflection with the cutting force. To reduce this machining error on the diameter, elastic deformation of the workpiece with cutting force, which is obtained through the energy method proposed by Usui et al., is considered in the generating process of the NC data. From turning test performed using this tool path, the effectiveness of tool path generating method proposed was confirmed.
