Description
Introducing Particle Swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter is an effective solution for adaptive filter design. Nevertheless, the system always works slowly since the fitness function of the algorithm is too complex. The study in this paper considers an improved fitness function that not only simplifies the system but also increases the calculation speed. By applying the improved fitness function to the PSO based FIR filters, the simulation result shows that the system speed is increased drastically and a high filter performance can be achieved.
