Abstract
This study focuses on the socio-spatial structure of Chinese
migrants in Canberra, the capital of Australia. Since 2000, the number of
Chinese migrants, especially from People’s Republic of China, has been rapidly
increasing in Australia. Between 1996 and 2011, the number of Chinese born
Australian residents has more than tripled and it is now the third largest
ethnic group in Australia. Currently, the Chinese is the second largest ethnic group
in Canberra, and subsequently, both social and spatial segregation between the
new comers and old comers of Chinese migrants is becoming marked in Canberra.
