Abstract
In recent years, Beijing City, has experienced rapid urban growth and massive rural-urban migration. On the other hand, due to urban growth, rural villages have been surrounded or otherwise encroached upon by urban expansion. Urban villages can be found mostly on the fringes of cities that have experienced significant expansion and received large numbers of migrant residents. This paper is based on a survey questionnaire for the migrant residents in Pingfang village,Chaoyang district of Beijing. It focuses on the characteristics and social network of migrant residents and aims to clarify the mechanism of housing choices by those residents.
