Description

The demand for thin, light, unbreakable, flexible displays is stronger than ever for use in devices like electronic books and paper-like displays. One of the most promising candidates is the OLED. In this report, we have developed a highly flexible barrier film for OLED by bonding a low hydrogen permeability and a low oxygen permeability. In the other hand, we have applied a gravure printing method to OLED. Using these technologies, we have succeeded in the prototyping of a red and green area-emitting color display. Moreover the authors demonstrated the feasibility of forming 100 μm line patterns of light-emitting material with specific lines for the RGB colors. This indicates that it should be possible to mass-produce highly flexible, full-color, OLED.
