- Case study on international business of Jrock
Description
Japanese music industry was vertical integration. Since 1961, not only record company but also management and music publishing company started producing music. As a case study, this reports new industrial structure. Jrock is known as Japanese music in overseas market. From my field research, it is found that some of the fans overseas are not only the listeners but also the promoters. They organize the projects and part of them become the tour agents who invite Jrock artists to their countries. That roles are almost the same as the one of the international department of record company. This is not only the popularity of Japanese music but also the structural change of music industry; the receiver can be the sender. It is suggested that the former structure of music industry has changed.
