- Empirical analysis of ISO9000 and recurring of chemical disaster
Description
This study demonstrates that process management influences switch of organizational momentum direction. Organizational momentum is, preservation and expansion of the direction of organizational action. This research analyze 84 incidents data from 1990 to 2009 in “the Chemical Disaster database" using negative binomial regression. Analysis results show that greater ISO9000 experience prevents discrete recurrence of chemical disasters. Furthermore, interaction analysis reveals that big disasters prevent reduplication of the disasters, but small disasters recur with a high probability. Meanwhile, the recurrence of small disasters decrease depending on the extent of ISO9000 experience. This study contributes practical and organizational learning through identifying the manner in which process management influences switch of organizational momentum direction.
