Description
In this presentation, using ‘platform' as a key concept, we perform a case analysis of Web browser war, started in 1995, as a fierce share competition between Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Analysis targets include the first browser war as mentioned above, second war includes Firefox and Safari and the recent situation where Web access by smartphones is mature. In the first browser war, in view of the parallel platform(Negoro, Kamaike and Shimizu, 2011), the presence of the Web server is an important while diversity of device is a key for second war.
