Abstract
Due to the deterioration of groundwater quantity and quality is a concern, water supply source in Hanoi, northern Vietnam, project increasing use of river water in the future. In this study, the calculation of sediment production distribution of Red River by using a sediment yield empirical model and global precipitation dataset was carried out in order to estimate the origin of suspended solids with high resolution and long term. As a result, sediment production in the Red River basin is dominant in the agricultural zone. This region was understood that human activities is greater than topography and precipitation effect.
