Abstract

The eastern part of Hokkaido is a region relatively low rainfall originally, that heavy rain often occur recently. The flood discharge of the river is also increasing. According to the previous studies that have organized the trend of rainfall based on daily rainfall data of the observatory in the Hokkaido, rainfall is a downward trend in the west of Hokkaido, it is an increasing tendency in the east. For annual maximum discharge of class A rivers in Hokkaido, flood discharge in recent years has been increasing in the rivers flowing through the eastern region of Hokkaido, it was reduced in the rivers of the western region. Trend of flood discharge and trend of rainfall is substantially coincident. In the eastern part of Hokkaido, heavy rain caused by typhoon many recent years, there is a possibility of the cause of the increase of flood discharge of recent typhoon.
