Description
The purpose of this study is to construct a frame-work for seamless river routing simulation using a global river routing model, CaMa-Flood in regional area, Japan. Bankfull width, bank height and two-stage cross sectional shape of 8 rivers in Japan are extracted from MLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) datasets and Google Map. Since such realistic cross-sectional properties of compound channels have not been considered in the global model, CaMa-Flood is modified. To incorporate those additional information in the calculation of discharge and flow depth. Simulations are performed on 1/12 degree grid mesh. Result shows that the developed simulation framework marks significantly higher correlations and lower errors for both discharge and water level comparing to in-situ observations. Incorporating locally available geographical data into a global model will effectively improve skills of flood prediction within a seamless manner of simulations.
