Abstract
Nowadays, arsenic pollutant in groundwater is serious in Asia. In Cambodia, because the ratio of water-supply system coverage is 14 % and sewage system coverage is 11 %, it is considerable people utilize untreated well-water as their domestic water and directly drain raw sewage to surrounding their houses. Therefore, the surface water is possible polluted by arsenic. In this study, we conducted the investigations on interview to resident and measurement surface water quality in January, 2016 to understand the actual situation concerning arsenic pollutant in surface water in Kandal Province. Interview was conducted to 11 households. From interview survey, the utilization of groundwater and drainage reveals that more than half of households utilize groundwater for domestic water and drainage raw sewage directly to soils and channel. The arsenic concentration in surface water (7 samples point in channel) indicates close to safety standard (10 μg/l) defined by World Health Organization.
