Abstract
Stalagmites and tufa deposits, terrestrial layered carbonates continuously record the past information on depositional environments. The artificial vegetation change during past 1000 years in Akiyoshi-dai Plateau could be clarified by using d13C value of annual layers of a stalagmite . The history of air pollution in Kitakyushu industrial area during past 100 years was extracted in success from tufa deposits by measuring the sulfate contents of their annual layers.
