Description
Systematic nomenclatures, linear notations, and connection tables are compared as communication media of organic structures and reactions. Their scope and limitations are discussed from a viewpoint of chemoinformatics for the Internet Age. XyM Notation and XyM Markup Language (XyMML) are proposed as new media, which are inplemented as a TeX/LaTeX application (XyMTeX) for printing and as an XML/XSLT and a Java application (XyM-XSLT and XyMJava) for Web communication. An alternative method via PostScript and PDF is also discussed.
