Description

With 60 healthy youth and 6 patients, reduction of discomfort in face-down position was investigated on body pressure. Measuring region of body pressure was forehead, elbow, mammilla, epigastrium, costal arcus, infraumbilicus, ante-superior iliac spina, pubis, thigh, knee, and tibial edge. Used instruments were "ELEGA body pressure meter" and "cuff pressure meter".
The results were as follows;
1. The pressure of forehead, knee and costal arcus were apparently higher than capillary pressure. The pressure of ante-superior iliac spina in slender cases was also high compare to obesity.
2. In costal arcus and ante-superior iliac spina resion, negative correlation was recognized between the degree of obesity and body pressure.
3. Complains of pain resulting from prolonged face-down position were marked in general on forehead and arm. These complains did not always parallel to high body pressure resion.
4. In order to reduce the discomfort on forehead resion, most of healty youth selected a "sobagara" pillow, but most of patients selected a sandbag. In the latter, sense of head stability is required than that of body pressure reduction.
5. With using of comfortable materials, the continuing time in the same position was prolonged, complains and body pressure would be decreased.
