Description

The number of schools connected by Internet has been increasing rapidly. There are many studies on the educational effects of the network. But those studies are mostly on infrastructures. Even the studies on interchanges are limited to the analysis of the mail on network. We paid attention to the part which does not remain on the network as a log (off-line) and tried to examine how children's learnings are motivated when the on-line and the off-line on network is fused in the class and the role of the teachers then.We chose a case the fourth grade children joined in the group making of a snow statue in the snow festival on the network and actually made the snow statue. We found qualitative increase in children's motivation towards activities and learnings when they took part in the off-line after getting involved in the network interchanges. We have also tried to make clear the roles of the teachers when the on-line and the off-line is fused in the classroom activities.
