Description

To investigate the possibility for clinical use of a light-sensitive prosthesis, electrically evoked responses (EER) were evaluated in normal and blind eyes using cornea cutaneous, cornea-conjunctiva and conjunctiva-conjunctiva electrodes. Normal eyes exhibited similar EER patterns with the different stimulating electrodes. No phosphene or EER was detected in the eyes blind from various causes. An electrically palpitative sensation could be induced in blind eyes by a stimulating current. Determination of EER was considered to be useful for evaluating light-sensitive prostheses.
