Description

It becomes possible that physicians can refer to or input patient information from anywhere in the hospital with commercially available mobile terminals. Radio wave communication has been, until recently, more expensive and less reliable than cable transmission, and in some cases has caused electromagnetic interference with electronic medical equipment. Recent reports on the safety of wireless LAN systems, including PHS, have concluded that LAN systems specifically designed for hospitals can be safely installed and have major advantages over cable systems.

In this report we introduce a wireless LAN for hospitals and suggest a checklist of points necessary for safe installation.
