Description
In the field of visual information processing of facial expressions, it has been insisted on that angry faces receive faster processing when compared to other expressions, which is referred to as the anger superiority effect. Although more than a few studies have yielded even contradictory findings about the high-priority processing of angry faces, it remains widely accepted by researchers due to its consistency with evolutionary notions such as adaptation and survival. In the present study, the more efficient detection of angry faces revealed by visual search experiments is reexamined, especially in terms of low-level visual features and search asymmetry.
