Abstract

We evaluated 12 orthopedic patients who were treated in our smoking cessation clinic before surgery. Among the 10 patients who completed the 12-week smoking cessation program, 9 patients succeeded in cessation. Seven patients were examined with a pulmonary function test, and one patient was diagnosed with COPD. Among the 8 patients who underwent surgery, 6 of those patients quit smoking in less than only 3 weeks before the surgery.
