Description
As for the conservation of energy and natural resource, automotive industries have been working on development of an efficient automobile. At the same time, it is also importantto develop an energy efficient manufacturingprocess. Having this energy efficiency consciousness in our mind,we have challenged the following technology development. NC Machining process for a high performance steel has been studied in industries. lt is considered as one of the difficult technology to achieve a high process capability because of the material hardness and its variability. We have decided to apply the concept, so - called "Transformability" to develop a high capability of this technology so that it can be used for the future family of products at Nissan Motor Co. As a result of this study, we were able to develop the NC machining process with standard deviation being 1/10 of the current NC machining, regardless of what part to be machined.
