Description
I supervised the designing of key visuals for Science Agora in my exercise class of the School of Art & Design, University of Tsukuba, from 2011 to 2016. The annual Science Agora is the largest public scientific communication event in Japan. The key visuals were used for many media. These visuals played an important role and were accorded pride of place in the event.<br>Considering the adopted key visual designs, providing an originality based on a smorgasbord for diversity was very important. The key visual rejected designs were "childish and like comics or animated cartoons," which limited their target audience. This way, we could show the direction in which key visuals suitable for present public science communication events were headed. I could gather the comments from the students and the Science Agora Secretariat. The track record of the production process that has continued promises to stand the future progress of visual design education in good stead.
