Description
The purpose of this study is to clarify the working women and child-rearing before the World War II by analyzing the articles of the women's magazine "Shufu-no-Tomo". The results were as follows: 1. In the enlightened article of female occupation, the working women were looked critically, though their photographs were gloriously found in the gravure pages of the magazine articles at the Taisho era. The getting job was recommended to the women graduating from middle school at the beginning of Showa era. Moreover the mother's working was advocated during the World War II. 2. In the case of working mothers, they felt guilty about child rearing. However they were proud of, and satisfied with their work.
