Abstract
In the Kitayama scene in the volume of "iyakamurasaki," some suggestive symbols are recognized. The high priest, who is supposed to give medical treatment to Genji, appears from the cave with an air of a dying man. This may symbolize Genji's death, and at the same time the midwife who helps Genji's rebirth. The Kaguyahime symbols, in the form of Wakamurasaki-no, kimi and Genji, give direction and power to start the story. Observed is the author's tremendous ability of creation that exceeds the symbollsm innuenced by Yusenkutsu.
