Description

It has been overlooked in the study of Mori Ogai's story, Sanshodayu, that the plot difference between the story and the didactic chant Sanshodayu, to which much attention has been paid, is actually caused by the transformation of the narrator. What excluded from Ogai's story is precisely such factors of the narrative that fundamentally concerns the narrator with the personal voice. What is substituted for this subconscious of the Middle ages is the inclusive attitude against discrimination, which might be described as the unconscious of modernity.
