Abstract

The "Speaker" described as "ware", in Hitomaro's Banka, differs from one poem to another in its situation. "Ware" in each poem is discussed from the standpoint that they are used differently because the author gropes for an effective means of elegiac lyricism description. While criticizing Sokura Takeshi's viewpoint recently presented in his "the Subject of Creation in Hitomaro Ritual Poems", it is proven that an introduction of the "speaker" 's point of view is effective as a means to study Waka poems of the early stage of the ancient period.
