Description

In Tagaminoue Ganrin Yamaoka develops Confucianism, citing Shushi's philosophical work Shishoshuchu. He also argues that one would attain Taoistic "naturalness" or Buddhistic "awakening" if Confucianism was correctly pursued. This idea apparently depends upon Kiitsu Hayashi's Soshi-Kensaikugi which proposes such a philosophical syncretism. Moreover, in his application of Soshi's teaching on kobu (inspiring) or kato (exceeding) which appears in Soshi-Kensaikugi, the author is heavily influenced by his mentor Kigin's poetics. Thus Tagaminoue might be regarded as one of those writings which shared in enlightening the public in the early Modern Ages.
