Abstract
Noh is a form of art which can transform even the horrible like the Asura realm and hell into something acceptable by means of its fantastic and elegantly-worded representations. There hell is depicted with very few reminders of tortures and pains, and the Asura realm is turned into a secular place where human beings, instead of supernatural beings, keep on fighting. Independently of the Buddhist view of the other world, this way of representing it developed into dramaturgy peculiar to the art.
