Description

One of the most important characteristics of fiction is that it causes an interaction between the author and the reader by means of language. As Sei Ito and Kenzaburo Oe point out respectively in their books of the same title The Method of Fiction, the author and the reader can share experiences in an imaginary community constructed from linguistic images. But today novels are usually written in a mechanical fashion by a word-processor, and typesetting has become computerized. Here I will also consider what kind of influence such a technological shift has on literature.
