抄録

The authors are tutors of a private university working at the learning support center where various learning support activities have been done since the center was established in 2003. In 2009, a new remedial mathematics course was started, collaborating with a department of mechanical engineering. It was recommended that under achievers of the placement test attended this course. This course concluded big success within improving academic skills of the students. By contrast, another remedial mathematics course which was on a purely voluntary basis started in 2009, but the number of attendants decreased gradually, and significant results was not obtained. In this note, we consider the improvement of these courses.
