Description
Carbonization of model garbage under hydrothermal condition was examined, and then compared with dry condition. The yields of char obtained from the model garbage using hydrothermal condition were equal to those using dry condition. The heating value of the char was 30KJ/g at 573K under hydrothermal condition. Therefore, it is suitable for use as a fuel. The calculated energy balance in the process of hydrothermal carbonization was 12.77KJ/g-garbage. On the other hand, the energy balance of dry carbonization was 6.41KJ/g-garbage. The hydrothermal carbonization recovered biomass energy more efficiently than the dry carbonization.
