Description

Ethanol production from Japanese cedar wood using an enzyme and yeast cells was investigated. Japanese cedar powder was pulverized by inner power ring mill. The enzymatic saccharification examination was carried out on solids concentrations of 13.5, 18, 22.5 and 27w/v% using acetic buffer solution of 200ml, a powder pulverized into 20μm in average diameter and an enzyme dosage of 5wt% per solids of powder. Ethanol production was carried out by Saccharomyces cerevisiae on the enzymatic saccharified liquid into activated carbon and ion exchange resin. The bioethanol production rate was first, when saccharified liquid was treated by ion exchange resin was short time in this study.
