Abstract

The purpose of this study is considering about school art education for local social cohesion. So I made its significance clear by the concept of “social capital”, and developed an analytical frame for these kinds of educational practices. First, I was clarifying the significance of building social capital through school art education in the context of hollowing out the community today. Second, community-based art education can foster local social cohesion and build social capital, through nurturing imagination and sympathy by the art communication of emotions. In this case, art teacher is required to search for local value, convert to expression-learning theme of art and continue to develop educational practices. Finally, I developed an analytical frame of such school art education practices for the systematization of the methodology. Concretely, the structure of social capital surrounding school and local society, and the state of the leadership of art teacher in the community cooperation were indicated.
