In Yamanashi high school reorganization is in its process today. The issue of high school education was vigorously discussed on the Ad Hoc Education Council and the 14th Central Education Council from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. Since then high school reorganization has been conducted nationally and so called three principle of high school education have been increasingly undermined. Many prefectures have already abandoned the Comprehensive Selection Procedures in relation to high school admission. Yamanashi is now a rare case where the procedures are still mostly maintained. The main theme of the symposium was about the Comprehensive Selection Procedures and the following reports were presented. 1. School- not easily understood (Seiko Hidaka) 2. The present and issues of high school reorganization in Yamanashi-A perspective of junior high school teacher- (Norihiro Inoue) 3. On policy options concerning high school districts (Sadahiro Sakakibara)
