Abstract
Fundamental and basic competencies on informatics education are examined from the view points of the new era marked by the Internet, and the current status of children's information literacy is discussed with the use of the results of questionnaire developed to find that students in primary schools have less learning will than those in lower secondary schools and students in both schools are still passive especially in teaching-learning situations. In addition to the current status mentioned above, authors propose the several strategies to promote the information education in schools.
