Description
Gear endurance tests were carried out using carburized gears with uneven helix deviation between the teeth. The author introduced here a new parameter, based on Hertzian pressure on the tooth surface calculated from cumulative fatigue damage rule, to evaluate the influence of the variability in helix deviation on the tooth surface strength. Key Words : Gear, Tooth surface strength, Pitting, Spalling, Helix deviation, Hertzian pressure, Miner's rule
