Description
Bio-coke converted from biomass is proposed as an alternative foundry coke used to produce cast metal. If biomass can be used as an alternative coke, producing low priced and environmentally friendly cast metal could be realized. Therefore, in this study we focus on the amount of carbon in bio-coke, collecting basic data of the 5 major factor changes, which are caused by the addition of bio-coke as a re-carburized material, and mechanical property during the production of cast iron, and examined bio-coke as the alternative. As a result of examination of the influence of bio-coke to mechanical property and Pig iron less casting, when bio-coke was added, an effect of 0.8% of re-carburization was observed. As the result of a mechanical property study, it also fulfills standard values of cast iron.
