Description
This report deals with analysis of thermal stress around a crack tip by a hybrid finite element. The hybrid finite element method uses a standard element and so-called super-element. The super-element is introduced to express the stress singularity near the crack tip and is based on the Airy stress function and Goursat stress function. To show the effect of the hybrid finite element method, numerical calculations are carried out and the results are compared with the Nastran results. Therefore, we show that a hybrid finite element method is applicable to the thermal stress problem.
