Abstract
In a car crash, if relative displacement of thorax of the crew is held in the tolerance, any aftereffect will not be remained. To realize this, the tension of the seat belt must be adjusted in a moment by the feedback control system. Therefore, an active seat belt which applied the shock control method using sliding mode controller is proposed. One of the features is no large power actuator is required because the tension of seat belt is controlled by brake mechanism. Then, the effectiveness is confirmed by the numerical simulation. As the result, the maximum deformation of thorax remained in the tolerance.
