Description
In a car crash, if deformation of thorax compression of the occupant is held to the allowable value, no aftereffect will remain. In order to realize this condition, the seat belt tension must be adjusted instantaneously by a feedback control system. Therefore, an active seat belt system on the basis of a semi-active shock control system is developed. The proposed system is also required no large power actuator because the tension of seat belt can be controlled by a brake mechanism. In this study, an actuator which controls the tension using the friction is developed, and an experimental equipment of 1/10 scales for the active seat belt system is constructed. Then, the control experiments are carried out. As the result, the relative displacement of the thorax model can be settled near the target. Therefore, the feasibility of the active seat belt system is confirmed, though the further improvement of the actuator has been left.
